Punch Needle Workshop

In this workshop, you’ll learn the punch needle technique and create your own textile artwork. Punch needle—also known as “Stanznadel” or “Punchen”—is a modern embroidery technique in which yarn or wool is punched through a tightly woven fabric (e.g., monk fabric) using a special hollow needle. This creates textured patterns and designs with a unique texture.

We’ll start with an exercise on monk’s cloth in an embroidery hoop so you can try out the technique at your own pace. Afterward, you’ll choose your own motif: either on a pillowcase in neutral colors or on a piece of monk’s cloth. A wide selection of threads and wool will be available to you. You can draw inspiration from our templates or create your own design—we’ll help you choose and bring it to life. At the end, your piece will be secured with fabric adhesive, which needs to dry overnight. You’ll receive a box for safe transport so you can take your project home right away.
