24 bands on three stages in September

On Thursday, July 18, Xaver Himpsl and Petra Deka from the VUT regional group South (Association of Independent Music Entrepreneurs) presented the program of the third Klangfest in a row at Werksviertel to the press and cultural advisor Anton Biebl on the second floor of Heavens Gate. On Saturday, September 7, there will once again be 24 bands on three stages. Free, but not for nothing for the visitors, as Xaver Himpsl noted. But wasn’t there something? Anton Biebl, who has always enjoyed attending the Klangfest since 2010, confirms that the open-air stage will not be there this year. This year’s slightly tropical summer with its evening showers has probably made the organizers a little more cautious. On the other hand, last year’s 12th Klangfest was almost too hot with its 30 degrees two days later in September. This was particularly noticeable for the organizers with their label stands in the tent on the opposite side of the square.

Once again in the tent, but a little shadier at the Nachtkantine and closer to the Technikum, Werk7-Theater and Nachtkantine venues, this year’s event features the organizers’ “Klangsalon” and the media lounge with journalist interviews with the musicians. A workshop area with a panel discussion next to it was organized with the help of the Competence Centre for Creative Industries. Experts will be discussing the topic of “Everything online – which sound carrier formats does the future belong to?” Where is the market for recorded music heading?

The fact that the ubiquitous availability of popular music cannot replace the live experience will once again be best demonstrated by this year’s line-up at the festival itself. And that it is first and foremost the musicians who have “produced” themselves. Nilo, the singer/songwriter from Japan, who has lived in Munich for 13 years and combines her homeland with a South American feel in her city pop songs, gives a good impression of this at the press conference. Her charm cannot be recoded into data!
