Friday, March 28, 2025 – Europe’s first public parking tower with integrated charging infrastructure and a unique art façade has officially opened at Werksviertel-Mitte. The innovative project was developed by VePa Vertical Parking in cooperation with Werksviertel-Mitte and offers space for 12 vehicles on just 49m². The Werksviertel-Mitte is thus once again setting an example for forward-looking mobility concepts and sustainable urban development.
The VePa parking tower at Ostbahnhof addresses two central challenges of modern urban planning: the high parking pressure and the lack of charging points for electric vehicles. Thanks to the innovative paternoster technology, the tower enables highly efficient use of limited space and at the same time supports the unsealing of urban areas. Another key advantage is that the tower can be completely dismantled, creating a sustainable alternative to traditional underground parking.
Ceremonial inauguration with high-profile guests and experts
Numerous guests from administration, the real estate sector and urban development attended the official opening at Friedenstrasse 12. A live demonstration of the parking system and the presentation of the impressive art façade by Mariella Kerscher, by Werksviertel-Mitte-Kunst, were followed by inspiring impulses from industry experts. Timo Schneckenburger, Managing Director of OTEC GmbH & Co KG, emphasized the importance of such innovative projects for the future of urban mobility in his speech. “The Werksviertel-Mitte stands for innovation, creativity and sustainability. With the VePa Parkturm, we are showing how urban mobility can be designed to be efficient, aesthetic and environmentally friendly. This project is another important step towards sustainable urban development,” said Schneckenburger.
