The Zamas - Festival of Cultures
On June 15, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Werksviertel-Mitte, experience a day dedicated to Southeast European culture: with music, art, lots of culinary delights, short films and numerous hands-on activities for young and old.
Events at a glance
Here you will find concerts and other event highlights of the ZAMAS Festival 2024. Admission – also to the concerts – is free. The venues for this year’s ZAMAS are the Container Collective and Knödelplatz.
From the afternoon, the DJ duo BalkanSistas will provide a party atmosphere in the Container Collective, and the Tanzwerkstatt München will delight with traditional Greek dances.
On the stage at Knödelplatz, you will first experience performances by Acoustic Caravan (a musical mix ranging from Moldova to Georgia), Ta Mourmourakia (a nostalgic journey into Rembetiko), Eskises (Turkish art music meets modern compositions) and Pnema (melodies from Greece and Asia Minor).
In the evening, we welcome the Express Brass Band as the headliner, who have been shaking up stages for 20 years with their unique mix of jazz, soul and more.
A day full of culture and wonderful impressions.
There is also a varied program for children. Action Painting and Free Art of Movement provide fun and exercise with trampoline and parkour. Tagalaki Aliki also offers a clay workshop on Cycladic art. Don’t miss the short film about the mathematician Konstantinos Karatheodoris, which was made by the Greek Lyceum in Munich (approx. 14:15 in the Spanplatte, one screening). And that’s not all – the children can even go on a short journey back in time to the founding of the city of Munich.
Furthermore, our colorful art and craft bazaar invites you to browse. In addition to the art exhibition “Bodies” by Sofia Arpatzoglou SAg, there are numerous stands with jewelry, paintings of all kinds, Reuse art, works made of wood, plaster and ceramics and 3D paintings. HomeCraft4you has also arrived from Greece and is showing works from the Greek folk tradition and the Palladion Foundation is organizing a book bazaar.
We are traveling directly to Greece in the chipboard container. In cooperation with Cinephile München e.V., an association that organizes the annual Greek Film Week, two special films will be shown: the short film “A Story in 14 Words” and the documentary “Alonnisos, a Sea Park”, which is well worth seeing. Screenings are always on the hour from 11.00 am (except 13.00 & 14.00 pm).
And last but not least, our culinary stands invite you to enjoy Greek delicacies. In addition to delicious souvlaki from the charcoal grill, fish street food, olive oil or falafel, there will also be delicious poffertjes and the perfect frappé or Fredo espresso. Greek summer cocktails with ouzo and masticha as well as traditional pitas and bougatsa are also served. The offer is rounded off by Omilos wholesale with delicacies, Mythos beer, wine with meze and a selection of sweets.
