30 million people across Germany are involved in this important so-called 3rd sector of society. For Werksviertel-Mitte, the focus was always on art, culture, leisure and social issues. And once again, the 2023 organizers were lucky with the weather. Against the blue sky, the clouds of the “fifth season” puffed up into magnificent crowns and the great heat was over for the time being.
At the Friedenstraße entrance, an information stand from Condrobs. In addition to addiction counseling and help with prevention, this association has also been supporting homeless people for 50 years and is active in migration work. Next to it, a beautiful old Streife beetle with a blue light on its round back, the paramedic and the fire brigade.
Meanwhile, the Container Collective plays “Cocaine” by Eric Clapton. Too early. It’s 11 o’clock. The “Munich Flames” are totally over it. They have been an integral part of the JUKI entertainment for rock n’ rollers from 8 to 80 for some time now, as they say themselves. And they get better every year! Reinhard on the electric guitar and tenor sax also provides a smile with a sparingly Bavarian twinkle in his eye. He also takes care of the pollution of rivers: “Yellow River.”
Passing the SVN, the sports club in the east of Munich with a wide range of ball sports, a large sports hall and low contribution prices, you come across a really great initiative: KulturRaum München, based at Zenettistraße 2, gives away theater and concert tickets for people on basic income support, in Hartz 4, simply with too little pension or only on presentation of the Munich Pass. Membership not required. Send registration form and proof of need to gast@kulturraum-muenchen.de. Very cool!
In the meantime, the “Oh Happy Day Choir” has been formed. The inclusion choir brings together people with and without disabilities, regardless of origin and social status. The group had already been grooving along to the Munich Flames’ rock n’ roll. Now it was their turn: “Put your hand in the hand “(…of the man who stilled the water) and “Rock my soul”. Who doesn’t love that? Later, we heard the choir again on the stairs of the WERK3 stage. “Let it shine” really had a great energy. Yeah, the light was shining on all of you!
A little boy with a striped cap was also infected. At the BRSO (Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra) stand, he made quite a decent sound on the French horn for the first time. Charming ladies from the orchestra were on hand to let the children try out instruments. Even the delicate bassoon!
Across the street on Mariss-Jansons-Platz, “Southernstars” presented themselves, originally western-style, next to a tippi. These are people who founded an Indian and trapper festival in Hallbergmoos in 2011. In vacation programs, children can make things out of leather and sleep in the tippi for a night southernstars.de

Wheelchair fencing is organized and supervised by the Munich Fencing Club in cooperation with TSV Trudering and the Gröbenzell Fencing Club. Anyone who is not in a wheelchair or only has to rest their legs temporarily due to injury is not excluded
Those who were reminded by “Kim’s Kindertanz”, who has been rehearsing choreographies with her little ones for years and regularly performs them at JuKi to everyone’s delight, that they should do something for their sleepy dancing legs again, found great offers such as boogie, Swiboro, disco and rock n’ roll at TSG München, TanzSportGemeinschaft München e.V.. Those who took it less seriously could join in with the little ones at the fidget show by family radio station Teddy.
On the way back through the Container Collective, what’s that? “I don’t want chocolate, I want a man”. Chiara from Andrea Gres’ singing school does it powerfully and with a lot of entertainer wit. A great and original reminder of the wonderful Trude Herr. Yes, we have to go there!
