Knödelplatz
The central square in Werksviertel-Mitte is sometimes an event space for concerts, festivals and markets, sometimes an open-air canteen and sometimes both together
The Knödelplatz is named after the huge, walkable pavement mosaic by Ugo Dossi. It depicts a plate with seven dumplings. They are a reminder of the history of the place from which Pfanni once supplied the hungry post-war republic and thus laid the foundation for today’s creative quarter.
The special thing about the walk-in mosaic is that anyone standing directly on it will find themselves surrounded by abstract shapes. The overall picture, including the dumplings, can be seen from far above, from the roof of Werk3, Werk12 or from an airplane.
