Mariss-Jansons Platz
Mariss Jansons was one of the most important conductors of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (BRSO). Today, the square where the BRSO's new concert hall will one day stand bears his name.
Mariss Jansons was Chief Conductor of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Choir from 2003 to 2019. During this time, he not only shaped and developed the sound of one of the world’s best orchestras, but also championed a very special location for the BRSO’s new concert hall: the Werksviertel-Mitte. Because here there is the opportunity to give classical music a home in the middle of life.
Until the concert hall is built, Mariss-Jansons-Platz will be home to the UMADUM Ferris wheel, the largest transportable Ferris wheel in the world, developed and built by the long-established Munich-based company MAURER SE.
